For no reason one of my hobbies is to observe people and give unsolicited astrology advice.
We are leaving the year of the Pig on 24 of January 2020 and entering the Rats. Here in Amsterdam big brown rats are frolicking and hopping the streets and houses. Here we are eco, we hardly use chemicals.
The Pig loved artistic Cancereans, nightlife loving Scorpio and emotional Pisces (and the gossip that comes after drama). Pigs are more conservative than Rats so invite family to your Christmas table. Close this Chinese year of the Pig with a great festive dinnerparty; bring gifts for everyone, try new artistic outfits and recipes! But go on a budget and be friendly to natures ways.
Pig earns all the money and Rat wants to have it, they work close to Piggies, but Rat is not as sweet. Careful for break-ins or acusatory neighbours.
Pig will not give in to art just yet. First, they...
Win the yearly designer gift from NotThatSexy! All you have to do is answer one of the questions below.
Compete for free accessories, art and clothing.
Don't want it yourself? Give it to your loved ones for Christmas. My packages are always (eco) wrapped as a festive gift.
Previous gifts were leather shoes from fashion house A.F. Vandevorst, 1990s unworn jacket from Moschino collectable, La Perla old stock lingerie, a Guy Laroche collectable bought in London, Ann Demeulemeester vintage, new designer tights and other luxury accessories! Wow, just giving it away.
So, the first question. Leave a friendly review on one of my pages. I am active on the following:
Vintage model Rosanne Luciana a.k.a. Roamingwildrosie is currently globetrotting and working in London as an interior designer. We met in fashion class/ art school in 2000. At that time I already worked as an avant garde model (Among commissions were high fashion photographer Mario Testino, Christian Witkin, Rijksmuseum and Vogue Italia). After seeing a picture of Rosanne, i encouraged her to see my agent.
Ann Demeulemeester's collection in 2000 s/s, features beaded poetry frases of the novel "Woolgathering", written by Patti Smith. Smith's style is adapted through all Ann'...
Finally! I am preparing and making room for you to work with me on a piece of more from your wardrobe. Do you have fabric? Some great pieces you don't wear anymore, but you do not want to put them away? Or, perhaps, you want to do some textile painting?
You will learn from me some techniques but foremost we will have a good look at your things. We can add a simple intervention or do more radical things. We will treat your garment as a sculpture.
I can give color advice. Or how to wear the best shapes for your body type. I can teach some easy sewing steps. I keep myself up to date in regards of avant garde design, art and fashion trends. So you will get that point of view as well. The overall look is more important than the best techniques. Being ecological is better than having the most, the newest item.
A personal consult includes advice, practice and use of material...
Especially wool and silk do not need washing regularly. Still some stains? Try natural soap (ox gallow). If your pretty sweater still is smelly, you can use mild detergent in a handwash. Do you take a shower every day? Take some clothing with you to steam and then take them outside. There might be some professional eco steam shops around in your area. However, if the stain or smell is too much you can try chemical steam. Delicate textile will also stay fine in a special program of your machine wash. As a last resort, upcycle your wardrobe! See examples in my webshopand contact me for workshops.
It means adjusting the garment to be more wearable, to your taste and measurements. Do this by washing (see for eco friendly options my blog post on eco washing), cutting, sewing, painting, printing on the fabric. You can combine the cloth with another piece of clothing or adding lacing to make it more ‘one size fits most’. Adding cuffs/ longer sleeves to make it more unisex, for example. Make it unique!
What is upcycling or downcycling?
Upcycling is making something more of an object and downcycling is using the different parts. For instance, i make my own ribbons of the left over silk fabric i used. See this upcycled bodypiece.
Altering designer clothes seems a shame, why do you do this?
Someone has to! Do not throw away your clothes. Get them repaired. Give them to people like me. Nice garments can easily be upcycled. You don't even need much water. Be m...
